Las Vegas Painting Complete!

Check out studio shots and in-progress photos of my recently completed commission! The largest commission to date for me is now complete and hung! The Las Vegas piece is of four separate locations around Las Vegas. I traveled out to vegas two summers ago to get many of the photos and to get a feel for the energy of the city. Over 80 hours were spent on the design alone, working with the client to get it exactly right. The painting took over 250 hours with a few tears, a lot of working and re-working, and lots of encouragement from friends and family!

It's the last week to catch the TEN°: NIU MFA EXHIBITION at the Zhou B Art Center in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago! Gallery is open Tuesday-Friday this week from 10am-5pm!

CAA Conference | Chicago. February 12-15

ARTexchange at the College Art Association Conference | Chicago

Jean Nouvel’s Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis, MN has inspired the work currently underway for my MFA Show in March. I will be displaying my process of examining Nouvel's work at the CAA Conference Friday, February 14th. I have been working on three-dimensional panels through a series of studies of the inside of the "Endless Bridge" interior hallway located in the Guthrie Theater. Through smaller wooden and foam-core models and studies, I have been researching how to implement Nouvel's idea of "forced perspective" and the idea of an ever-changing reflection into my work through the treatment of planar shifts, surface treatment, and reflective color.

Salon B, Stevens Meeting Center, Lower Level of the Hilton Chicago (720 South Michigan Avenue), on Friday, February 14, from 5:30–7:00 PM.
